About the bank
AVO Bank JSC was founded in 2017 (entered in the Central Bank register on 2 July 2017 under No. 83) and originally traded as Uzagroexportbank; it was later relaunched under the AVO brand. Licence No. 83 was reissued on 28 February 2025. The registered office is at 29A Nukus Street in Tashkent's Mirabad district. According to the bank's charter and list of affiliates, its sole shareholder is AVO.UZ, a foreign-invested limited company registered in Tashkent, holding 100% of the shares. The name is short for 'havo', the Uzbek word for air.
AVO is a branchless mobile bank: customers register through MyID and open every product in the app. Individuals can get AVO platinum debit and credit cards (Mastercard), a free AVO UZCARD digital virtual card, a payment sticker, fixed-term and flexible som deposits, online microloans and loans for personal needs, home renovation, weddings and the self-employed. Plastic cards are collected around the clock from more than 50 card-issuing machines across Uzbekistan, and the bank also runs its own ATMs. According to the website, in 2024 the bank was recognised as the country's largest issuer of virtual cards. The app is available in Uzbek, Russian and English.
For travellers
The bank offers no cash currency exchange or international remittance systems and is aimed mainly at residents of Uzbekistan: cards require Uzbek citizenship and a local +998 number. The AVO platinum Mastercard works for payments abroad and online shopping. The website says nothing about cash withdrawals with foreign cards at its ATMs. The customer hotline +998 78 888 78 87 operates 24/7.
