About the bank
Hamkorbank was founded in Andijan in 1991 as Andijanbank and took its present name in 2000. Its head office is still in Andijan, on Bobur Avenue, rather than in Tashkent. The Central Bank classifies it as a bank with foreign capital. According to the bank's website (February 2025), individuals hold 60.8% of the shares and legal entities 39.2%; the largest institutional shareholders are the Dutch development bank FMO (14.55%), responsAbility funds (13.21% combined) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC, 7.28%).
The bank concentrates on lending to small and medium-sized businesses, including through credit lines from IFC, the EBRD and the Asian Development Bank. Retail customers are offered cards, deposits, car loans, mortgages, microloans and online loans. According to its website, the bank has more than 160 offices across all regions of the country.
For travellers
Exchange offices buy foreign currency from residents and non-residents with no limit on the amount. Currency is sold to non-residents against an exchange certificate (form 9002), a terminal or ATM receipt, or another document showing the money was legally obtained in Uzbekistan. Cash can also be drawn there from international cards, in soums or in foreign currency.
International transfers can be collected through Zolotaya Korona, MoneyGram, Ria, Astrasend, KwikPay, Asia Express, UPT, Swiss Remit and OlmaPay, and Zolotaya Korona, Astrasend and KwikPay transfers can be paid straight onto a card in the Hamkor app. The bank issues Uzcard, HUMO, Visa and UnionPay cards; the tariffs for its foreign-currency Visa Classic and UnionPay Classic cards include terms for non-residents. The Hamkor app is available in Uzbek, Russian and English.
