About the bank
Ipoteka Bank traces its history to the Tashkent Housing Savings Bank, set up in 1996 and turned into the Housing Savings Bank of Uzbekistan in 1997. In 2005 that bank merged with Zamin-bank to form Ipoteka-bank, the country's first bank specialising in mortgage lending. On 13 June 2023 Hungary's OTP Bank bought 73.71% of the shares from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the bank joined OTP Group. According to the bank's website, as of 1 June 2026 OTP Bank Plc. held 72.89% of the shares, the Ministry of Economy and Finance 17.49% and the International Finance Corporation 8.7%.
For individuals the bank offers mortgages, consumer and car loans, microloans, deposits and cards, and it also serves small, medium-sized and large businesses. According to official figures, its assets stood at USD 3.8 billion at the end of 2024. Branches and banking service centres operate in every region.
For travellers
Branches exchange US dollars, euros, pounds sterling, Japanese yen and Swiss francs, with separate rates for the cash desk, ATMs and the Ipoteka Mobile app. International transfers in US dollars can be sent and received through Western Union, MoneyGram, Ria, UPT (Turkey and Europe) and Asia Express (incoming only); none of these systems charges the recipient a fee.
The bank issues Uzcard, HUMO, Visa and Mastercard cards, including co-badged HUMO-Visa and HUMO-Mastercard cards. The US-dollar Visa Classic and the euro Mastercard Standard are issued at bank offices. The Ipoteka Mobile app is available in Uzbek, Russian and English.
