About the bank
Kapitalbank began operating in April 2001 under a Central Bank licence and is one of Uzbekistan's first private commercial banks. It merged with Tashkent's Aviabank in 2004 and registered a new charter as an open joint-stock commercial bank in 2008. The head office is in Tashkent's Yunusabad district, on Sayilgoh Street. The Central Bank lists it among private banks; according to the bank's website (February 2026), its sole shareholder is KPB Property Holding LLC. For businesses the bank runs the Uzum Business | Kapitalbank app together with the Uzum group of companies.
Individuals are offered cards, deposits, loans, safe deposit boxes and money transfers; businesses get settlement and cash services, lending, acquiring and foreign exchange operations. The office list on the bank's website (July 2026) shows 15 branches, 19 mini-banks, 4 banking service centres and 71 banking service offices; outside Tashkent, branches operate in Samarkand, Bukhara, Fergana, Kokand, Namangan, Termez and Nukus.
For travellers
Currency is exchanged at the bank's cash desks, which also replace damaged foreign banknotes, accept them for collection or examination and break large notes into smaller ones (fees are published on the website). International transfers via Western Union, Zolotaya Korona, MoneyGram and Asia Express are sent and paid out at all offices; Western Union transfers can also be sent in the Kapitalbank app, and Visa Direct and Mastercard MoneySend allow online transfers to foreign cards.
The bank issues Uzcard, HUMO, Visa and Mastercard cards, including multi-currency Visa Infinite and Visa Platinum. The Kapitalbank app works in Uzbek, Russian and English, and the contact centre (1340) answers around the clock. Note: the bank's website may not open from some servers outside Uzbekistan; the details here were taken from archived copies of the site from 2026.
