About the bank
Tenge Bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan, the largest bank in that country. It received its licence from the Central Bank of Uzbekistan on 18 May 2019 and began serving clients on 10 July of the same year. Branches in Fergana and Samarkand followed in 2020, and the Tenge24 mobile app for individuals was launched in March 2022; according to the website, Moody's assigned the bank a B1 rating in 2020.
The bank is a universal one. Companies are offered loans, trade finance, acquiring and deposits; individuals can get Uzcard, Humo, Visa (Platinum, Infinite) and Mastercard (World, Black Edition) cards, term deposits in soums and foreign currency, mortgages, car loans and unsecured online microloans through Tenge24. Virtual Humo and Mastercard cards are opened in the app without visiting a branch. Outside Tashkent, branches operate in Andijan, Bukhara, Fergana, Namangan, Navoi, Nukus, Karshi and Samarkand.
For travellers
Branches exchange currency and open current accounts in soums, tenge, US dollars, euros or roubles, and the website lists the documents a non-resident needs to open a deposit. International transfers go by SWIFT to an account at any bank worldwide, and transfers from Tenge24 to Halyk Bank cards in Kazakhstan carry no fee. The cash-service tariffs mention paying out transfers received through Zolotaya Korona, Contact and Western Union. The Tenge24 app is available for iOS and Android, and the 1245 contact centre works around the clock.
