About
The Ministry of Energy was created in 2019 during the reform of the fuel and energy sector. It sets state policy for electricity, oil and gas and coal, coordinates large solar and wind power projects and monitors the balance of electricity and gas supply.
The National Dispatch Centre and the research institute for renewable energy belong to the ministry. Energy market regulation is handled by a separate agency (EMDRA), energy efficiency by the National Energy Efficiency Agency, and supervision of electricity and gas use by Uzenergoinspeksiya.
Residents contact regional power grids and gas suppliers about supply problems and, in difficult cases, the ministry’s hotline. The ministry is based in a new building in New Tashkent.
