About

The Ministry of Emergency Situations was set up in 1996 and protects the population from natural disasters, industrial accidents and fires. Its system includes fire brigades, rescue units, the National Emergency Management Centre, the seismic forecasting centre and the ministry’s academy.

Key numbers for travellers: 101 for fire, 1050 for the rescue service and 112 as the single emergency number. Rescuers are on duty on mountain routes (Chimgan, Zaamin, Baysun) and at lakes and reservoirs; hikers are advised to notify the regional emergency department before heading into the mountains.

Every region has an emergency department, with district units and fire stations below it. The head office is in Tashkent on Kichik Halqa Yoli Street.
