About
The Food Safety Committee was established by Presidential Decree PF-84 of 12 May 2026, merging the control functions of the Plant Quarantine and Protection Agency and the Veterinary and Livestock Development Committee with sanitary supervision of food safety in a single body. The committee works on the “from field to table” principle.
It inspects food production and retail facilities, approves sanitary rules and hygiene standards, issues opinions and certificates for imported and exported products, and carries out plant quarantine and veterinary control. For travellers the committee is the place to report food safety concerns at markets, cafés and restaurants (call centre 1288).
The head office is in Tashkent’s Yakkasaroy district; regional departments operate across the country.
