About

The Ministry of Health runs the country’s medical system: national specialised research and clinical centres, regional and district hospitals and family polyclinics all belong to it. The ministry sets standards of care, registers medicines and coordinates measures against epidemics.

Useful for travellers: the ambulance number is 103 (the single emergency number 112 also works), public hospitals provide emergency care, and medical insurance is recommended for foreign visitors. Complaints about the quality of care can be made via hotline 1003.

The Committee for Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health, the Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry and the Clinical Audit Inspectorate operate within the ministry. The main building is in Tashkent on Alisher Navoiy Street.
