For everyone

General rules

Registration, passports, extensions, transit and customs — each point names the act that sets it.

Registration after arrival

  • Foreign nationals permanently residing in another country must register at their place of stay no later than three working days after entering Uzbekistan, unless international treaties or legislation set a different period.

    LRU-1074
  • In hotels, hostels and other accommodation (and during in-patient treatment) staff register you by notification through the E-mehmon system.

    LRU-1074
  • If you stay in a private house or flat, your host applies to the migration unit of the internal affairs bodies with the owner’s application (consent), the owner’s passport or ID card and your travel document. It is processed within one working day and a registration certificate is issued.

    LRU-1074
  • Registration is granted for the period stated in the owner’s application, but not beyond the visa-free period or the validity of the visa. For visa-free CIS citizens — up to six months.

    LRU-1074
  • You must live at the registered address, carry your travel document and present it on request of authorised officials, and report its loss to the internal affairs bodies immediately.

    LRU-1074

Passport and documents

  • Visa-free entry requires a valid national passport or equivalent document with at least 6 months’ validity. The visa-free regime covers all passport types (diplomatic, service and ordinary).

    CM Res. No. 408
  • The visa-free regime does not apply to stateless persons permanently residing in the listed countries.

    CM Res. No. 408
  • An e-visa is tied to a specific passport: if you replace it, you must apply (and pay) again. If the passport and e-visa data do not match, or there are more than three typos, entry is refused.

    RP-3836

Length of stay and extensions

  • The 30- and 60-day visa-free period starts when you cross the state border; you must leave before it expires.

    CM Res. No. 408
  • To stay longer than 30 (60) days, you must apply for one of the visa categories listed in Annex 4 to CM Resolution No. 408.

    CM Res. No. 408
  • Since 1 May 2026 the Department of Migration and Personalisation under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and its regional offices may extend an e-visa once for up to 30 days.

    RP-14
  • To extend a regular (non-electronic) visa, the inviting person or organisation applies to the authorised body (migration and personalisation unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs) at least 10 days before it expires; the extension cannot exceed the term set for that visa category.

    CM Res. No. 408

E-visa

  • Apply only on the official portal e-visa.gov.uz — no embassy visit is needed. Purposes on the portal: tourism or business; a group application is possible for five or more adults.

    RP-3836e-visa.gov.uz
  • Apply at least 3 working days before your trip: processing takes 2 working days, not counting the day of application, and the e-visa is sent by email.

    RP-3836
  • Consular fee: single entry — US$20, double entry — US$35, multiple entry — US$50. Payment is made on the portal through international payment systems; it is not refunded if the visa is refused.

    RP-3836e-visa.gov.uz
  • An e-visa is valid for 90 days from issue; the stay is up to 30 days from entry. A single-entry e-visa ends when you leave, a double-entry one after the second exit.

    RP-3836
  • The e-visa is not stuck in your passport: show it at the border on paper or on screen; Border Troops officers can also check it themselves. Its validity and term can be checked through the portal’s enquiry services.

    RP-3836

Transit

  • Transferring between international flights without leaving the designated airport area for up to 24 hours requires no visa (with entry documents for your destination and a ticket with a confirmed departure date).

    CM Res. No. 408
  • Citizens of the 46 countries in Annex 2 to RP-3836 with an air ticket to a third country may enter, stay and leave visa-free through international airports for up to 5 days. The carrier must provide advance passenger information to the Border Troops.

    RP-3836CM Res. No. 408
  • A transit visa (TRAN) is issued for up to 3 days. If a forced stopover exceeds 24 hours, you must obtain a stay permit from the internal affairs bodies within the next day.

    CM Res. No. 408
  • Tourist transit by private car, on foot or in a bus group requires a pre-booked road tour from a tour operator licensed in Uzbekistan, listing stops, plus the relevant visa (unless you are visa-exempt).

    CM Res. No. 408

Children and special cases

  • Foreign children under 16 with a passport or biometric travel document, accompanied by a legal representative, enter visa-free for the validity of the representative’s visa, up to 90 days from entry. If they turn 16 while in Uzbekistan, an exit visa is issued by the migration and personalisation unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

    RP-3836RP-14
  • Citizens of other countries with UAE residence status enter visa-free for 30 days on presenting the original residence visa valid for at least 90 days.

    CM Res. No. 408
  • From 1 September 2026, Indian citizens holding a valid multiple-entry business or tourist visa of the USA, the UK, a Schengen state, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan or the Republic of Korea, plus an air ticket to their own or a third country, may enter visa-free for up to 30 days.

Where sources disagree

Where official sources disagree, we follow the most recent legal act — and say so openly:

  • Jordan: Resolution No. 408 (as amended by No. 662, 22 Oct 2025) grants 30 days visa-free; the e-visa.gov.uz portal still lists it under “e-visa”. The newer legal act prevails.

    CM Res. No. 408e-visa.gov.uz
  • France: the portal shows visa-free with no time limit; Annex 5 to Resolution No. 408 sets up to 30 days. The legal act prevails.

    CM Res. No. 408e-visa.gov.uz
  • Bangladesh, Gabon, Ghana, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal and South Africa: Annex 4 to DP-5611 provides for an e-visa, but they are not on the portal. Marked as “special” — check with a consulate.

    DP-5611e-visa.gov.uz
  • Guinea-Bissau: listed for e-visas on e-visa.gov.uz but not named in Annex 4 to DP-5611; marked as “e-visa” based on the portal.

    e-visa.gov.uzDP-5611
  • Annex 4 to DP-5611 (last amended 5 Jun 2023) still lists the USA, China, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Jordan for e-visas; the later DP-203 and Resolution No. 408 (as amended by No. 662) made them visa-free, which is what applies.

    DP-5611DP-203CM Res. No. 408
  • E-visa extensions: paragraph 4 of the RP-3836 Regulation says “without the right of extension”, but the later RP-14 allowed a one-time extension of up to 30 days from 1 May 2026 — the newer rule is shown.

    RP-3836RP-14
  • The customs section on uzbekistan.travel is out of date (a US$2,000 air allowance, etc.): the current CM Resolutions No. 244 (as amended 9 Apr 2026) and No. 66 are shown.

CM Res. No. 244CM Res. No. 66uzbekistan.travel/i/travel-tips
  • In the Uzbek text of Annex 5 to Resolution No. 408, the names in items 70 and 83 (Dominican Republic / Dominica) are swapped compared with the Russian text; both are on the 30-day visa-free list, so there is no practical difference.

Frequently asked questions

How long can I stay in Uzbekistan without a visa?

It depends on your citizenship. Citizens of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine have no time limit; Kyrgyzstan — up to 60 days; 84 more countries (including the USA, EU member states, the UK, China, Japan and South Korea) — up to 30 days. Hong Kong citizens may stay up to 7 days if arriving by air with a return ticket. The period starts when you cross the border.

How much is the e-visa and how long does it take?

The consular fee is US$20 for single entry, US$35 for double and US$50 for multiple entry. Apply only at e-visa.gov.uz at least 3 working days before travel; processing takes 2 working days. The e-visa is valid for 90 days and allows a stay of up to 30 days.

Do I need to register after arrival?

Yes. Foreign nationals permanently residing abroad must register their place of stay within 3 working days of entry. Hotels and hostels do this through the E-mehmon system; in private housing the owner applies to the migration unit of the internal affairs bodies.

Can I stay longer than the visa-free period?

To stay beyond the 30 (60) visa-free days you must obtain one of the visa categories listed in Annex 4 to Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 408. Since 1 May 2026 an e-visa can be extended once for up to 30 days by the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Department of Migration and Personalisation.

How much cash can I bring?

There is no limit. Amounts above the equivalent of 100 million soʻm must be declared and shown to customs. On departure you can take out up to that amount freely; non-residents can take out more only within the unspent sum declared on arrival.
