History

The shrine stands in the Fozilmon mahalla of Khanabad, close to the Kyrgyz border. Tradition links it to Sayyid Fozilmon Dehlavi, a 13th-century religious scholar. According to local sources, a mudflow buried the mausoleum in the late 16th century; in 1805 Kholmuhammad Eshon, son of the poet Huvaydo, located the grave and rebuilt the tomb, which was restored with a dome in traditional style in 1996.

Fifty-six plane trees, around two centuries old, shade the grounds, and locals call the water of the nearby spring 'living water'.
