Background

The sanatorium was built by UzAuto Motors under a 2017–2019 programme for the development of Khanabad and opened on 11 June 2018. The project cost 70 billion soums and aimed to improve public health and develop medical and eco-tourism.

Treatments

With 174 beds, it can take 6,480 guests a year. It focuses on respiratory, nervous system, musculoskeletal and digestive conditions. Treatments include thermal water at 18–44 °C, mineral baths, electrophoresis, paraffin therapy, hydromassage, acupuncture, a salt room and herbal medicine, and rooms range from standard to semi-luxe and apartments.

Grounds and surroundings

The buildings stand in a 10.5-hectare park shaded by elms, poplars, oaks, walnuts, chestnuts, junipers and plane trees, with an indoor pool, a conference hall and sports grounds. Khanabad is a foothill town on the right bank of the Kara Darya; legend has it that the khans of Kokand loved to hunt in its riverside thickets, which gave the town its name. Granted town status in 1972, it was called Sovetobod until 1991 and grew quickly once work on the reservoir began in 1969. The Fozilmon Ota shrine is next door and the Andijan Reservoir a few kilometres away.
