Museum · Jizzakh
A museum opened in 2017 in Jizzakh's Khoja Nuriddin madrasa of 1902, telling the lives of Hamid Olimjon and Zulfiya, two leading names in Uzbek poetry.
Hamid Olimjon (1909–1944) was born in Jizzakh and became one of the foremost Uzbek poets of the 20th century; his wife Zulfiya (1915–1996) was named People's Poet of Uzbekistan. The museum opened on 3 November 2017 in the 16 cells of the restored Khoja Nuriddin madrasa, built in 1902.
Exhibits include the earliest photograph of Hamid Olimjon, household objects and pottery, a model of the poet's home, manuscripts, photographs and Zulfiya's decorations. In the courtyard stand a statue of Olimjon by Sh. Akhtemov (1970), one of Zulfiya by Bahrom Norboyev (2017) and a sculpture of the pair reading poems to each other.
