Pilgrimage site · Parkent District
A shrine in the foothill village of Kumushkon near Parkent, grown up around an old plane tree and five springs and linked by legend to the Caliph Ali.
The shrine sits at the top of Kumushkon village in Parkent District. Legend says the Caliph Ali prayed here and that the plane tree sprang from his whip or staff; another tale has his horse Duldul drinking from the spring. The stories have no historical basis, but they have made the place sacred to local people.
Villagers built the first khanaqah and veranda themselves in 1982. A mosque was added beside the plane tree in 2010, and the complex was rebuilt in 2014. There are five springs whose water locals regard as healing. In 2021 the shrine was added to the national list of heritage sites with high tourism potential.
