History

The park was built as part of the Tashkent City international business centre on the site of the demolished Olmazor and Ukchi mahallas and officially opened on 13 October 2019. Its functional plan came from Russia's Strelka KB, with Turkish, Italian and Russian firms involved in the design, and a public consultation in July 2018 — the first for a project of this scale in Uzbekistan — gathered residents' ideas. Two heritage sites were preserved and restored: the tomb of the Eshonzoda family, descendants of Ahmad Eshon Shoshi Korotoshi, who translated the Quran into Uzbek, and the early-20th-century Orifjonboy Mosque, one of the first Art Nouveau buildings in Uzbekistan.

What to see

At its centre is a 15-hectare artificial lake with a 200-metre musical fountain whose jets shoot up to 80 metres during shows, best watched from the 450-seat amphitheatre. More than 4,500 trees have been planted, including magnolias, oaks, maples and birches. The planetarium building also houses a wax museum and a 7D cinema, and there are children's and sports grounds.
