A 20 km² reservoir on the middle Akhangaran, popularly called the “Tashkent Sea”; the Tashkent–Bekobod road runs along its dam.
The Tuyabuguz Reservoir was built in 1962 on the middle course of the Akhangaran and is one of two reservoirs on the river. It covers about 20 km², holds 250 million m³ and has an average depth of 12.5 m. The Tashkent–Bekobod road runs along the 2.9 km crest of its earth dam. It was built to regulate the seasonal flow of the Akhangaran and Chirchiq, feeds several irrigation canals, and since 2019 has had a 12 MW hydropower plant.
The settlement of Tuyabuguz stands on the north shore. Being so close to Tashkent, the reservoir is a familiar spot for anglers and city dwellers heading out of town at weekends.
