Babur Park
A city garden beneath centuries-old plane trees
Entertainment · Davlatobod District
A theme park opened in 2019 on the site of the former Mashrab Park: a water park, a Friday mosque for 15,000 worshippers and Uzbekistan's largest Ferris wheel, 92 metres high.
Afsonalar Vodiysi ('Valley of Legends') park was built over 155 hectares on the site of Namangan's former Mashrab Park. Construction began in 2018; President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the project during a visit to the region that year and proposed the name. The project cost a total of 123 million dollars, and the first phase of the park opened in 2019. Of that sum, 102 million dollars came from the founder, the company Namangan-Istiqlol Bogi. The old park was named after the poet Boborahim Mashrab, a native of Namangan.
The park has indoor and outdoor water parks with 16 pools and 7 water rides. The Yusufkhon ogli Qosimkhon Friday Mosque, built in 2021 to a design by the Turkish firm DOME+Partners, holds 15,000 worshippers at once. The Ferris wheel opened in 2024 stands 92 metres tall and is considered the largest in Uzbekistan, with 54 cabins carrying up to 216 people at a time.
With its avenues, fountains and rides, the park has become a family day out, and at weekends people come from all over the region. The park lies in Davlatobod District, about 5 km west of the city centre.
