About the natural monument

The Mingbulak natural monument was created by Decision No. 164/14 of the Namangan regional executive committee on 28 December 1991. Its purpose is to preserve desert ecosystems and the remnants of the Akkum sands in the region, fostering the wildlife of the sand hills for future generations. It consists of two sections, of 531.1 and 341.5 hectares, lying between the Istiqbol, Gigant and Fergana farm tracts at 327–330 metres above sea level, with the Achchiqkul collector drain to the north and the Damkul to the south. Saxaul, tamarisk and reeds grow in the surrounding desert, home to foxes, jackals and hares.
