History

The complex was created under a presidential decree of 23 October 2019 on marking the 75th anniversary of victory in the Second World War. Despite the 2020 lockdown, work ran in three shifts and the park opened on schedule on 9 May. Covering more than 12 hectares, it has two themed halves: one on Uzbek soldiers at the front, the other on life and labour on the home front.

What to see

A Victory Arch shaped as a five-pointed star marks the entrance. The 'Horrors of War' zone recreates trenches and bunkers with guns and tanks, including a genuine combat T-34; a fountain in the shape of the Order of Victory lines the main avenue, and an eye-shaped composition called 'The Tear' stands to the left. On top of an artificial mound rises 'Eternal Feat', honouring Hero of the Soviet Union Major General Sabir Rakhimov and all Uzbek soldiers, with a tree and marble plaque for each of 301 Heroes of the Soviet Union. The 'Ode to Steadfastness' monument commemorates the poet Zulfiya and her sons.
