Samarkand Regional Russian Drama Theatre
Still the “Chekhov Theatre” to locals
Plov centre · Samarkand
A plov centre on Zargartepa Street in the west of the city: plov is served daily from 11:00 to 13:00, and the place is known for huge portions and long queues.
Shavkat Osh is well away from the centre, in the Yuqori Khojasoat neighbourhood on the west side, so most of its customers are locals. Plov is served for just two hours, 11:00–13:00, and at lunchtime a long queue forms of people taking it away.
Portions are huge — one is meant for two, so solo diners order a half. The carrots are piled on top separately, and you can ask for more or less. The owner often comes out to greet guests himself.
Information checked: October 2026. Prices and hours can change — call ahead before you go. We do not take bookings: contact the venue directly.
