Events
A spring folklore festival at the foot of the Baysun mountains: folk ensembles from around the world, a yurt camp, kurash, kupkari, tightrope walkers and craftspeople.
Boysun Bahori (‘Boysun Spring’) was first held in 2002, a year after UNESCO proclaimed the culture of Boysun a Masterpiece of intangible heritage. It was annual at first, then lapsed, and was revived in 2017. The 13th edition ran on 1–7 May 2026 at the Boysun Bahori tourist complex in Bibishirin mahalla: 16 Uzbek folk groups and ensembles and soloists from the UK, Belgium, Indonesia, Hungary, Slovakia, Greece, Japan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan competed before an international jury.
A large yurt camp goes up at the foot of the mountains; folk ensembles take the stages, and the arenas host kurash wrestling, kupkari and darboz tightrope walking, with craftspeople and cooks on hand. The mountains are green in spring, so combine the festival with a trip to the highland villages.
