International Embroidery Festival (Samarkand)
A celebration of embroidery in Samarkand’s historic centre: suzani exhibitions, masterclasses, a souvenir fair and folk performances.

About the festival
Each spring Samarkand gathers embroiderers — makers of suzanis, skullcaps and gold embroidery. The 4th International Embroidery Festival on 17–19 April 2026, organised by the Tourism Committee, brought together more than 110 artisans from across Uzbekistan and from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, with its main fair on Islam Karimov Street. The programme featured suzani and embroidery exhibitions, masterclasses, a national-souvenir fair and folk ensembles.
It is an easy way to compare the Samarkand, Bukhara, Nurata, Shahrisabz and other embroidery schools side by side and buy directly from the makers.
