Dishes of the East festival
Samarkand’s first food festival: on day one visiting chefs cooked their national dishes, on day two local cooks showcased Samarkand cuisine.

About the festival
The Sharq Taomlari (‘Dishes of the East’) festival was held for the first time on 23–24 March 2026, during Navruz, on Alisher Navoi Street in Samarkand. According to the Tourism Committee, on the first day foreign chefs cooked and served dishes from their home countries, and on the second, under the banner ‘Taste of Samarkand’, local cooks presented Samarkand and Uzbek national dishes.
The programme included cooking contests with more than 100 chefs, a display of over 50 dishes, masterclasses, craft and oriental-sweets exhibitions and concerts.
