Xatirchi District
Xatirchi District in the east of the region is a fertile oasis on the Zarafshan and has more people than any other district in Navoiy.
About the district
Xatirchi District was created on 29 September 1926 as one of the first 79 districts of the Uzbek SSR; before that it had been a province of the Bukharan People's Soviet Republic (1920–1921) and a county of Karmana province (1922–1926). It belonged to Samarkand Region from 1938 and to Navoiy Region from 1982, returned to Samarkand Region in 1988 and rejoined Navoiy in 1992. It borders Nurota to the north, Navbahor to the west and Samarkand Region's Kattaqoʻrgʻon, Qoʻshrabot, Narpay and Paxtachi districts to the south and east, with the Zarafshan forming its southern boundary.
Its centre is the town of Yangirabot, about 51 km east of Navoiy, and the district also includes the settlement of Langar. Most people work in farming and livestock. On 1 January 2026 the district had 219,200 residents — more than any other district in Navoiy Region.
