History and design

The mausoleum stands in the southern part of Dorut Tilovat, facing the Kok Gumbaz Mosque. An inscription inside records that it was built by order of Ulugh Beg in AH 841 (1437–1438) for members of the Timurid house. Later the sayyids of Termez were buried here, and their names survive in 15th–18th-century inscriptions on the marble tombstones, which explains the name.

It measures about 9 × 9 m outside, with an inner chamber of 5.75 × 5.75 m. The dome on its tall drum collapsed and was later rebuilt. Inside are red and blue wall paintings, two tiers of arches and pendentives beneath the dome.
