Museum · Kokand
A museum devoted to the Kokand-born poet, playwright and composer Hamza Hakimzade Niyazi — a branch of the Kokand Museum-Reserve.
Hamza Hakimzade Niyazi (1889–1929) was born in Kokand and became a poet, playwright, composer and educational reformer; his 'Poisoned Life' (Zaharli hayot) is one of the first Uzbek dramas. He was killed in Shohimardon in 1929 and is buried there. The house museum dedicated to him is a branch of the Kokand State Museum-Reserve; its building was erected in 1989 to a design by the architect Sergo Sutyagin. The displays gather documents and objects on Hamza's life and work and on Kokand's cultural scene in the early 20th century. The museum-reserve also runs the Museum of Great Thinkers, the Jome Applied Art Museum, the Mukimi Cell Museum and the Literary Museum.
