A mosque of 1905 commissioned by Shokir Mingboshi, with a three-sided iwan, painted ceilings and a pool in its garden.
The mosque was built in 1905 for Shokirkhon, the mingboshi (district chief) of Rishtan volost; the main work was done by a father-and-son team of craftsmen, Eshonkhon and Noriboy. The same official had paid in 1899 for the restoration of the mausoleum of Hazrat Ali in Shohimardon. The mosque is a 40 by 13 metre rectangle in which a three-column winter hall is wrapped on three sides by an iwan, its cornice stepping up in three stages towards the central mihrab axis. The ceiling paintings, with lush floral patterns in blue, green and red, deserve particular attention. East of the mosque a man-made pool sits in a garden shaded by old trees. It is a textbook Fergana multi-column, open-fronted mosque, still in use today.
