About the route

This is for short breaks or tacking a few days onto a business trip or stopover. Each city gets only its highlights; Khiva would need another two days.

Don't skip the evenings in Samarkand and Bukhara: with the monuments lit up and the streets cooling down, the cities feel completely different.

Getting around

Tashkent–Samarkand–Bukhara–Tashkent by Afrosiyob and other fast trains. Book early — morning departures sell out first. Bukhara's international airport also has direct flights abroad.

When to go

March–May and September–November. In summer, schedule sightseeing for mornings and evenings.
