Muhammad Amin Khan Madrasa
Khiva’s largest madrasa
Hotel · Khiva
A hotel by the west gate of Itchan Kala, set in the Muhammad Amin Khan Madrasah, built in 1852–1855.
Orient Star Khiva occupies the largest madrasah in Khiva, built in 1852–1855 on the orders of Muhammad Amin Khan and standing right against the stubby Kalta Minor minaret. Guests sleep in the former students’ cells: the rooms are simple, but the inner courtyard, thick walls and upper-floor galleries keep the feel of the 19th century.
Ota Darvoza, the main entrance to Itchan Kala, is a few steps away, so it is easy to explore the old town by day and retreat to the courtyard in the evening. Breakfast is included, there is a restaurant on site, rooms are air-conditioned and transfers can be arranged.
Information checked: October 2026. Prices and hours can change — call ahead before you go. We do not take bookings: contact the venue directly.
