Yangihayot District
A southern district formed in 2020 from land of both Tashkent city and Tashkent Region, with a fast-growing population.
Creation
The president proposed the new district in May 2020 while visiting the Zangiota and Sergeli areas, and on 11 September 2020 the Senate approved its creation. It started with 4,419.6 hectares: 2,131.2 from Tashkent's Sergeli and Bektemir districts and 2,288.4 from the Zangiota, Quyichirchiq, Yangiyul and Ortachirchiq districts of the region.
At the time it had 115 industrial and 277 service enterprises, 1,148.8 ha of farmland and 147,000 residents; by 1 October 2025 the population had reached 198,400, up 7.7% in a year.
What it is known for
Elevated metro stations — Choshtepa, O'zgarish, Yangihayot and Chinor — run through the district, which also preserves the ancient Choshtepa mound.
