A south-eastern district created in 1968 as Hamza District, home to the Catholic cathedral, St Alexander Nevsky Church and New Uzbekistan Park.
Created in 1968 as Hamza District, after the playwright and public figure Hamza Hakimzade Niyazi, it was renamed Yashnobod by the Senate on 29 August 2014 following residents' proposals. It borders the Mirzo Ulugbek, Bektemir and Mirabad districts and Qibray district of Tashkent Region, from which it gained 2,107.4 ha in 2021.
Its population was 315,800 on 1 October 2025, and the Tashkent-Humo business-aviation airport is located here.
Sights include the Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral, begun in 1912, and St Alexander Nevsky Church in Botkin Cemetery — the only church never closed in Soviet times. On the eastern edge lies New Uzbekistan Park with the Independence Monument, opened in 2021.
