Tashkent's smallest district, in the centre — the only one with no border with Tashkent Region; home to the Museum of Applied Arts and the UNESCO-listed Kosmonavtlar metro station.
Formed on 26 August 1936 as Frunze District and renamed on 8 May 1992, Yakkasaray lies in the central part of the capital. It is the smallest district by area and the only one that does not border Tashkent Region, adjoining the Shaykhantahur, Mirabad, Sergeli and Chilanzar districts. Its population was 143,800 on 1 October 2025, up 4.1% in a year.
Highlights include the State Museum of Applied Arts in the ornate Polovtsev House, Kosmonavtlar metro station — inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2026 — and the Academy of Arts' Central Exhibition Hall, plus Friendship (Do'stlik) Park.
