Yangi Tashkent District
The project for a new city and 13th district east of the capital: about 20,000 hectares taken from the Yuqorichirchiq and Ortachirchiq districts of Tashkent Region.
Project and territory
New Tashkent is a city being built east of the capital, between the Chirchiq and Karasu watercourses, to relieve pressure on Tashkent and create a new administrative and business centre. In November 2023 a committee of the Legislative Chamber published a draft resolution creating a Yangi Toshkent district of 19,729.41 ha within the city — 17,300 ha from Yuqorichirchiq and 2,400 ha from Ortachirchiq district — and in March 2024 the Tashkent Region council approved the transfer.
Construction of the first buildings began in April 2024, a master plan was presented in May, and the government approved the plan for the first district in June. Of 40 planned mahallas, 37 are being transferred according to cadastre data, with 19,723 properties in the area.
Current status
The district is still taking shape: as of 1 October 2025 Tashkent's statistics office reports figures for 12 districts, without Yangi Toshkent. The first district is planned for completion within 6–10 years. For visitors it is still mostly a construction zone, though the Aqua Blue water park operates here.
