Location and history

Mirabad stretches south from the city centre. It was formed in 1929 as Lenin District and renamed on 8 May 1992, and borders the Yunusabad, Yakkasaray, Sergeli, Bektemir and Yashnabad districts. It had 156,100 residents on 1 October 2025.

What to see

Many of the city's landmarks fall within it: the Alisher Navoi Bolshoi Theatre, the Tashkent Chimes, the State Museum of Arts, the new Centre for Contemporary Arts and the Zhemchug building. Further south are the main railway station with its railway museum, the ancient town site of Ming Uryuk — capital of Chach — and the Holy Assumption Cathedral.
