History and location

Davlatobod is a city district in western Namangan. It was first created on 29 August 1977 over 1,100 hectares, abolished in December 2003 and merged back into the city, then re-established on 11 September 2020 by decision of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis. It covers about 47 km² and had nearly 150,000 residents in 2021, living in more than 25 mahallas.

Most of the district is densely built-up city: apartment blocks, factories, schools and colleges, and markets.

What it is known for

Namangan International Airport lies within Davlatobod District, as does the home stadium of Navbahor football club — one of the largest in Uzbekistan — and the Dostlik tennis complex. The Afsonalar Vodiysi park in the west of the city, with its water park, large Friday mosque and a 92-metre Ferris wheel opened in 2024, draws visitors from across the region.
